Chris Leben (born July 21, 1980 in Portland , Oregon ) is a resigned American mixed martial arts fighter who competed in the middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He was the first middleweight champion of the WEC .

Life came to the UFC through the first season of the reality TV show The Ultimate Fighter . Leben in the UFC was able to secure the bonus for the Knock-Out of the Night and Fight of the Night twice each . In 2009 he was banned for one year after a positive doping test for oxycodone and oxymorphone .

In the past, Leben has made a name for itself with its wild lifestyle and several prison terms, including drink-driving.

In addition to his martial arts career, he appeared on several episodes in the TV series Hungry Beasts from 2009 to 2010 .

In January 2014, Leben announced the end of his MMA career after four defeats in a row.
