Chris Lee (born March 11, 1980 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , † June 12, 2019 in Berlin ) was a Canadian - American ice hockey coach and from 2017 until his death coach of the U20 team of the Eisbären Juniors Berlin . Lee was the son of Peter-John Lee .

Player career

Lee ended his playing career in 2002.

Coaching career

Lee began his coaching career in the youth department of the Eisbären Berlin and was assistant trainer for the U18 polar bears from 2005 to 2007 and assistant trainer for the Eisbären Juniors Berlin from 2007 to 2009 . In 2009 he took up the post of head coach at FASS Berlin , before joining the Eisbären Berlin coaching staff in the German Ice Hockey League in 2013 as an assistant . In the 2013/14 season he was responsible for video analysis and player development for the Eisbären.

In May 2014 Lee was hired by the ice pirates Crimmitschau from the DEL2 as head coach. In the 2015/16 season he led the Ice Pirates back into the championship round for the first time in eight years. In December 2016 it came to a separation after the team lost four of the previous five games and was second to bottom of the DEL 2 .

In the summer of 2017, he returned to the Eisbären Juniors Berlin and took over as head coach for the U20 team.

In June 2019, he died surprisingly at the age of 39 in his Berlin apartment. He leaves behind a wife and three children.
