Christopher Mark "Chris" Riggott (born September 1, 1980 in Derby , England ) is an English football player. He plays in central defense and has been with Derby County in the Football League Championship since 2011 .

Career

Derby County

Riggott's football career began in Derby County's youth division , where he played in the U-19 team. He joined the county's first team in 1999. His coach at the time was England's future national coach Steve McClaren . He was named Derby Countys Player of the Year at the end of the 2000/2001 season. Overall, Riggot ran 91 times in four years at Derby County and scored five goals.

Middlesbrough FC

In 2003 he moved with Malcolm Christie for a transfer fee of £ 3,000,000 (approx. € 4,500,000) to Middlesbrough FC . In 2006 he was with Middlesbrough in the final of the UEFA Cup , which was lost 4-0 to Sevilla FC . In 2008 Riggott was briefly loaned to Stoke City .

Cardiff City

After his contract at Middlesbrough expired, Chris Riggott moved to Cardiff City in the 2010/11 Football League Championship in August 2010 . After he had played two league games for his new team, Riggott and Cardiff dissolved the contract by mutual agreement.

Derby County

On August 10, 2011, he signed a one-year contract with his former club Derby County .
