Chris Zoricich (born May 3, 1969 in Auckland ) is a former New Zealand soccer player with Croatian roots, who most recently worked for Wealdstone FC, a club from a suburb of London , and for the New Zealand national soccer team .

Career

Zoricich began his career with Papatoetoe in Auckland before moving to Leyton Orient in England . In 1994 he returned to New Zealand and played for Central United, a club with a Croatian background. His brother Michael, who also played a few Davis Cup appearances for the New Zealand tennis team , and his father Ivan also played here. In 1994 Zoricich moved to Australia for the Brisbane Strikers. In 1996 he signed a contract with Chelsea , but was unable to play in the first team in the two years at the top London club. He then played at some clubs in Australia before going back to England. He retired from Wealdstone FC in the summer of 2006.

With the national team of his country Zoricich could win the OFC Nations Cup in 1998 and 2002 . He made his debut on March 27, 1988 against Israel and took part in the Confederations Cup in Mexico and France in 1999 and 2003 . In total, he played 57 times for his country from 1988 to 2003 and scored one goal.
