Christ Vs. Warhol is a modern death rock / gothic punk band from the western USA.

history

Christ Vs. Warhol is a band that was formed in 2009 by former members of u. a. Scarlet's Remains , The Deadfly Ensemble and Mephisto Walz.

Since there were many problems with Scarlet's Remains that made the musical development difficult, all members except Tony Havoc decided to leave the band and start a new project with former members of various scene bands.

With their EP of the same name, released in 2009, and with the following 2010 album Dissent which was released in Europe on the German label Danse Macabre , Christ Vs. Warhol quickly caught the attention of the scene media and received consistently positive criticism.

The long player is apparently named after a Julian Cope title, and Monica Richards from Faith and the Muse designed the artwork. With Dissent , Christ Vs. Warhol already traveled through the USA and Europe, including at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in 2010.

Another album called Resistance, Rebellion & Death is in the works and, according to the band, half complete. A tour through Europe for the album is expected to take place in summer 2014.

style

Christ Vs. Warhol can be assigned to modern death rock / gothic punk and shows clear musical parallels to early death rock bands like Christian Death .

Her music and lyrical content, as front woman Eveghost admitted, doesn't mark much of a change from Scarlet's Remains .

“I was vocalist for Scarlet's Remains. Steve and Marzia (Rangel) were also in the final lineup of Scarlet's and in fact I wouldn't call it that much different. It's just that there are various reasons why we are no longer in Scarlet's Remains. "

"I was the singer for Scarlet's Remains. Steve and Marzia were also in the last lineup, so I wouldn't say it's much different. There were different reasons why we are no longer with Scarlet's Remains."

- Eveghost

Musically, a clear punk attitude prevails, which is also reflected in the often political lyrics. As usual in the genre, the bass has an equivalent function alongside the guitar. The singing of Eveghost is often siren-like and shrill-bizarre and is not infrequently based on the singing of Siouxsie Sioux . According to Eveghost, he is often inspired by the French Cold Wave movement.

According to the band, the next album should sound a little different and increasingly go in a dark direction.
