Christianity in Oman
The Christianity is the religion of 2.5% of the population in Oman , about 64,000 people.
Almost all Christians come from other countries. Most of them are from the Philippines , India or western countries.
There are 90 parishes. More than 50 active groups and assemblies of the Christian faith exist in the Muscat metropolitan area . The Evangelical Church in Oman, the Catholic Diocese of Oman and the al-Amana Center are recognized by the Ministry of Foundations and Religious Affairs . At least one St Thomas Christian Church exists in Oman.
It is forbidden to proselytize Muslims. Oman does have Christian schools; However, teaching Islam is compulsory for everyone in public schools.
Catholicism
According to the 2005 census, 3,001 Catholics live in Oman. Oman belongs to the area of the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia . There are 21 Catholic parishes in the country.
Protestantism
0.4% of the population of Oman are Protestants . Oman belongs to the territory of the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf of the Episcopal Church of Jerusalem and the Middle East . 21 Protestant denominations exist in Oman.
