Christian Collum

Christian Collum (* 1943 in Dresden ) is a German church musician .

Christian Collum was born the son of the church musician Herbert Collum . He attended the Dresden Kreuzschule and was the singer of the Dresdner Kreuzchor . He completed his training as a cantor at the Dresden State Church Music School . Because of the refusal to serve in the army, he was denied a university degree. In 1965 he was finally admitted to the Leipzig Music Academy , where he studied organ, conducting and choral conducting. In 1975 he passed his Kapellmeister exam. After working as an organist in Rostock , he left the GDR in 1980 and took over the position of church musician at the Petrikirche in Mülheim an der Ruhr . In 1983 he moved to the Protestant Church in Cologne-Rath as organist and at the same time took over the artistic direction of the Cologne Bach Society (until 1994). From 1988 to 2008 he was a church musician at the Reformation Church in Cologne-Marienburg .
