Christian Fenger

Christian Fenger (born November 3, 1840 in Copenhagen , † March 7, 1902 ) was a Danish pathologist, surgeon and university professor.

Life

After completing his studies in Copenhagen in 1876, he worked in Egypt and moved to Chicago after his stay in Cairo . There he worked at Cook County Hospital and taught surgery at the University of Illinois Medical Center (now the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC)). In his many years as a lecturer and professor, he wrote numerous papers on surgical topics. In 1901 he was awarded the Dannebrog Order. In 1915 a high school in Chicago was renamed in his honor.
