Christian Jensen (journalist)

Christian Jensen (born 1972 ) is a Danish journalist. He has been the chief editor-in-chief of the liberal daily Politiken since 2016 .

Live and act

Jensen completed his training at Danmarks Journalisthøjskole in 1999 and did an internship at the morning newspaper Jyllands-Posten . From 1999 to 2002 he initially worked as an investigative journalist in the socio-political department, soon as Sunday and news editor and from 2007 to 2010 finally as a member of the editor-in-chief of the liberal-conservative daily Berlingske . From 2010 to 2016 Jensen was the responsible editor-in-chief of the left-wing liberal Dagbladet Information and during this time helped the paper to renew and digitize it. In 2016, Jensen was appointed editor-in-chief of Politiken to succeed Bo Lidegaard .

Jensen is known in Denmark for his commitment to climate protection . On the occasion of the results of the UN climate conference in Katowice in 2018 , Jensen announced: “We understand the seriousness of the situation. […] From now on, people will act and not just talk. ”As a result, he increased reporting on the climate crisis , ended the possibility for Politiken employees to travel by air on official domestic routes and severely restricted reporting on long-distance destinations in the travel section of the newspaper.

Jensen is married and has three children; the family lives in Charlottenlund .
