Christian Junge (born May 7, 1973 in Winterthur ) is a Swiss film historian , film critic and author. He is the artistic director and overall director of the Zurich Film Festival .

Life

Boys studied Italian linguistics and literature, history and film studies at the University of Zurich . In 2006 he received his doctorate in film studies with a dissertation on the relationship between Hollywood and the Cannes Film Festival .

Junge was film editor for NZZ am Sonntag and editor-in-chief of the film magazine Frame, which he founded in 2014 together with Karl Spoerri , artistic director of the Zurich Film Festival , and Felix E. Müller , then editor-in-chief of NZZ am Sonntag. From 2011 to 2017 he was President of the Swiss Association of Film Journalists. From 2013 to 2018 he was a member of the Zurich Film Commission. He wrote a biography about Moritz de Hadeln .

In April 2019 it was announced that he would succeed Karl Spoerri as artistic director of the Zurich Film Festival in 2020 . Instead, he has given up his position as head of culture at the “NZZ am Sonntag”.
