Christian Maurer (journalist)

Christian Maurer is a Swiss journalist .

Career

Maurer studied French and English literature in Zurich and at the University of Paris III .

In 1988 he became a trainee at Anzeiger von Uster in the Zurich Oberland. He then switched to the Swiss Dispatch Agency (sda). In 1991 he took over the multilingual Zurich office there. In 2000 he became editor-in-chief and ad interim editor of the commuter newspaper Metropol . Then he went to the SonntagsZeitung as news editor and deputy news chief and in November 2006 switched to the Tages-Anzeiger as editor of the regional section . In the same year he moved to the commuter newspaper News as deputy editor-in-chief . From 2009 to 2010 he was the head of the news department and editor at the tabloid SonntagsBlick in Zurich. He is an author for SonntagsBlick and also writes for the commuter newspaper Blick am Abend .

Initially Vice President, Maurer became President of the Zürcher Pressverein (ZPV) in 2014 .

Maurer is the father of two children.
