Christian Noyer
Christian Noyer (born October 6, 1950 in Soisy-sous-Montmorency , France ) is a French lawyer , finance specialist and civil servant.
Life
Noyer first studied law at the University of Rennes I and graduated in 1971. He then studied in Paris at the elite universities Sciences Po (graduation 1972) and ENA (graduation year Guernica , 1976). He began his career in the Direction du Trésor of the Ministry of Finance .
Noyer was Vice President of the European Central Bank from 1998 to 2003 (and thus deputy to Willem Duisenberg , who was President of the ECB from 1998 to 2003).
From 2003 to 2015 he was governor of the Banque de France , i.e. head of the French central bank . In March 2010 he was appointed director of the Bank for International Settlements .
At the end of October 2015 he will leave this office due to age; President Hollande François Villeroy de Galhau nominated as his successor .
