Christian Offergeld

Christian Franz Enrique Offergeld (born March 29, 1964 in Hamburg ) is a German doctor and university lecturer .

Life

As a basketball player, Offergeld became German B youth champions in 1979 and 1980 with SC Rist Wedel . In the second half of the 1980s and in 1990 he also played for Wedel in the 2nd basketball division . In the old men category, he took part in the 2013 World Cup with the German selection.

His doctoral thesis, presented at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg in 1995 , was entitled "Effects of bipolar electrocoagulation on the bile duct". He trained as a specialist in ear, nose and throat medicine . In 2009 he completed his habilitation at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg on the subject of "Clinical and experimental examinations for quality assurance after reconstructive middle ear surgery".

His main research interests include reconstructive middle ear surgery, imaging in the ear, nose and throat area, sonography of the head and neck region, hemangiomas / vascular malformations, sinus and plastic reconstructive surgery and laser applications in ENT medicine.

Offergeld is general secretary of the Spanish-German Society for Otorhinolaryngology and at the German Society for Ear, Nose and Throat Medicine, Head of the Working Group “Teaching and Testing in ENT Medicine”.

In 2012 he was awarded the Anton von Tröltsch Prize of the German Society for Ear, Nose and Throat Medicine, Head and Neck Surgery for his work "Clinical and experimental examinations for quality assurance after reconstructive middle ear surgery".

In 2017, Offergeld was awarded the "Teaching Awards for Outstanding Didactics" from the Medical Faculty of the University of Freiburg for one of its courses.
