Christian Plattner (musician)

Christian Plattner (* 1963 in Tulln ) is an Austrian jazz musician ( alto and tenor saxophone , clarinet ) and manager.

Plattner, whose father Helmut Plattner was active as a trumpeter in jazz bands, learned the clarinet as a child and later learned the saxophone. Since 1979 he played in the family band Plattner & Plattners Jazz Corporation , which also included his younger siblings. From 1982 to 1987 he studied mathematics at the Vienna University of Technology ; During his studies he was one of Oscar Klein's Europea All Stars , but in 1983 he also appeared with Plattner & Plattner at the International Dixieland Festival Dresden . In 1987 he toured Europe with Yank Lawson and in 1988 made his first tour of North America at the Los Angeles Classic Jazz Festival and the Minneapolis Jazz Party . In the next few years he also performed with Woody Shaw and Phil Upchurch ; In 1990 he was invited to the New Jazz Meeting Baden-Baden , which took place under the motto The Big Tenor Meeting . He is currently playing semi-professionally in his Jazzparty groups and in his own quartet with Herbert Swoboda , Martin Treml and Walther Großrubatscher . He can also be heard with the Hot Jazz Ambassadors and Plattner & Plattners . Between 1982 and 2000 he was involved in 25 recordings.

In 1985 he founded his own company in the field of software development. He then worked as a manager for Philips before working for telecommunications companies such as nextra, KPNQwest and T-Systems Austria. He is currently the Key Account Manager at Tele2 Telecommunication Austria .
