Location of the General-Dr.-Speidel-Kaserne in Baden-Württemberg |
The General-Dr.-Speidel-Kaserne is a barracks of the Bundeswehr in Bruchsal . It was built from 1961 to 1963 as the Eichelberg barracks . The ceremonial renaming took place in November 1997. The namesake of this barracks was a supporter of the group around Claus Graf Schenk von Stauffenberg , the later Bundeswehr and NATO general, Hans Speidel . The barracks are located south of Bruchsal on the Eichelberg ridge. A site shooting range (StOSchAnl) and a site practice area (StOÜbPl) are connected to the barracks .
barracks
The Eichelberg barracks was the home of the 1st Airborne Division (1st LLDiv) for 30 years and, since 1994, the NBC Defense Battalion 750 (ABCAbwBtl 750), which was renamed the NBC Defense Battalion 210 (ABCAbwBtl 210 / Dragoon Kaserne) .
The Feldjägerdienstkommando (FJgDstKdo) Bruchsal has been based there since November 1964 . First by the 3rd platoon of Luftlandefeldjägerkompanie 9 (LLFJgKp9 / III), then by 2./Feldjägerbataillon (2./FJgBtl 750) then by 3./Feldjägerbataillon 452 (3./FJgBtl 452) "Die Badische" and since May 2014 operated by the 6th / Feldjägerregiment 3 (6./FJgRgt 3). In 2007 the location was upgraded because the army command was moved from Koblenz to Bruchsal.
A special feature is the elevation of the Katzenbuckel on the site training area. On this ridge there is a grass runway that can be used by the Transall C-160 . At the edge of the landing area there is a memorial stone for Lieutenant Colonel i. G. Roland Dotschkal, staff officer of the 1st Airborne Division (head of the G / AMF (L) department and freefall officer of the division), who died in an accident on March 4, 1993 while jumping (his 1394th jump).
The sports promotion group Bruchsal (boxing, wrestling, weightlifting) is also located here.
free time activities
The Parachute Sports Jumper Club 1st Airborne Division e. V. Bruchsal (FSC Bruchsal) uses the on-site practice area for training, tandem and parachute jump.
