Christian Schmitt-Engelstadt (born June 20, 1967 in Ingelheim am Rhein ) is a German organist .

Life

Christian Schmitt-Engelstadt studied organ with Zsigmond Szathmáry , piano with James Avery and harpsichord with Michael Behringer at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg . After the church music A exam and the piano diploma, he studied solo in the organ class of Christoph Bossert ( University of Music Trossingen ). He won the international organ competitions Carouge / Geneva, 1992, Nürnberg ( Nuremberg International Organ Week ) in 1994 and Gelsenkirchen in 1996. From 2001 to 2009 he was a lecturer in organ at the University of Music Mainz was from 2002 to 2010, he lecturer in organ at the University of Music and performing arts Frankfurt am Main . He is cantor and organist at the Luther Church in Worms .

He made radio and audio recordings and also gave concerts outside of Germany, for example in France, Switzerland, Hungary, Russia, Portugal, Spain and Mexico. He is married to the cellist Katharina Schmitt and has three children.
