The Kenilworth Road is a football stadium in the English town of Luton , County Bedfordshire , United Kingdom . It has been the home of the Luton Town FC football club since 1905 . Kenilworth Road is a fully seated stadium and has a capacity of 10,226 spectators.
The club plans to replace the 100-year-old stadium with a new building. The 2020 Development Holding , a subsidiary of Luton Town FC, acquired a plot of land in December 2016 on which the new stadium is to be built. The aim is to move into the new venue in 2020. With the early purchase, the project could be implemented earlier. The stadium planned by AndArchitects is to offer 17,500 seats and the expansion to 22,500 seats is included in the plans if required.
Visitor record and average attendance
The attendance record is 30,069 spectators and was set up on March 4, 1959 in the replay of the 6th round of the FA Cup between Luton Town and Blackpool FC . The record at the time of modern seating stadiums is 10,260 visitors. It was set up on October 21, 2006 in the game of the Football League Championship on October 21, 2006 against Leeds United . On May 6, 2007, this record was set in the game against Sunderland AFC .
