Christian Schopen (born September 26, 1958 in Offenbach am Main ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

The native Offenbacher Christian Schopen began his career in club football in 1966 with the Offenbacher Kickers. After the family moved to Rimbach (Odenwald) , he joined FV 09 Weinheim in 1973.

In 1977 he moved to Starkenburgia Heppenheim in the group league, having outgrown his youth . After the first season with the Heppenheimer club, the promotion to the Oberliga Hessen stood . In 1980 he went to Wormatia Worms in the 2nd Bundesliga , where he immediately had a regular place. In 1981 Worms qualified for the single-track second division, from which they were relegated a year later. Then Schopen went to 1. FC Saarbrücken (Oberliga Südwest). The team trained by Uwe Klimaschefski rose to the second division as Southwest Champion, but Schopen left the club after one season and went back to Hesse, where he joined VfR Bürstadt (Oberliga Hessen). Here, too, he was able to celebrate the title of league champion and promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga in his first season. With 36 missions in the 1984/85 season he was one of the permanent staff at the Bürstädtern, but could not prevent relegation. Schopen initially remained loyal to the club even after relegation. In 1986 he advanced with his club to the final of the German amateur championship. There the VfR was defeated by BVL 08 Remscheid with 1: 2 goals. He then moved to FV Weinheim , with whom he won the third league championship of his career in 1987/88. In addition to his playing activities in Weinheim, he trained the E-youth of FSV Rimbach, the former residence of Christian Schopen, during this time. From the summer of 1989 he played for half a year at SV Sandhausen and then actively at SG Egelsbach . In the first year there, they were relegated from the Oberliga Hessen, but achieved immediate resurgence under coach Lothar Buchmann . He played 70 games for Egelsbach (39 in the Oberliga; 31 in the Landesliga) and scored 6 goals. In 1992 Schopen ended his playing career.

This was followed by two years as chairman of the game committee at VfR Bürstadt and one season (1997/98) as coach of SV Kirschhausen.
