Christian Schulte

Christian Schulte (born August 17, 1975 in Neuss ) is a German hockey goalkeeper . He was a member of the national team's senior squad from 1996 to 2009. During this time he completed more than 120 international matches.

Life

With the German national hockey team he was world and European champion in hall and field. In 2004 he won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Athens . In 2006 he reached 2nd place with the national team at the Champions Trophy and became world champion in Mönchengladbach. No nation had previously managed to defend its title. Also in 2006 he became German field hockey champion with the Crefeld HTC . At this championship he was chosen for the second time after 2003 for the "best goalkeeper" of the field hockey finals. On February 11, 2007 he added the title of German Indoor Champion 2007 to his track record with the Crefelder HTC, of ​​which he is an honorary member. A historic success was achieved in the final: As the only goalkeeper in a German indoor championship to date, he has not conceded a goal.

In May 2007 he won the European Hockey Club Sport crown. With the Crefeld HTC in the final of the European Cup of the national champions a 1-0 win against the Spanish champions ONO Atlètic Terrassa . Christian Schulte secured this result for the German national hockey team in the final of the Champions Trophy 2007 in Kuala Lumpur. This makes Germany the record winner of the prestigious competition (9 wins). Christian Schulte secured another success that is unique in Germany with the Crefelder HTC in February 2008, when the CHTC won the European Cup in the hall and, after Athletic Terrassa, was the second European team to achieve the double double in a championship cycle.

In March 2008, the German national team won the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Beijing with Christian Schulte, with the goalkeepers Ulrich Bubolz and Christian Schulte conceding no goals in six games.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, Christian Schulte was registered as a P-accredited substitute for the German men's national hockey team and thus again part of Germany's Olympic team.
