Christian Stadelmann

Christian Stadelmann (born January 11, 1959 in Berlin ; † July 26, 2019 ) was a German violinist .

Life

Stadelmann started playing the violin at the age of seven. His teacher Charlotte Hampe taught him from 1970 in Berlin at the Julius Stern Institute until he studied from 1980 to 1985 at the Berlin University of the Arts with Thomas Brandis . First he played in the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie , won prizes in various music competitions and was a founding member of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen . On September 1, 1985, he became a member of the second violins of the Berliner Philharmoniker and founded the Philharmonia Quartet together with his orchestral colleagues Daniel Stabrawa , Neithard Resa and Jan Diesselhorst . Two years later he was in the orchestra as successor to Emil Maas (1922 *, † 2005), the voice leading the vocal group assigned to the second violins.

Stadelmann has been a lecturer at the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic since 2002 , founded the Vincent Trio with the cellist Dietmar Schwalke and the pianist Alexander Malter and was also active as a soloist. From 1991 onwards, with a brief interruption in 2005, he was also a member of the five-member council of the Berlin Philharmonic, which advises the orchestra's board of directors.

Stadelmann died after a serious illness at the end of July 2019 at the age of 60.
