Christian Strecker (* 1960 in Landshut ) is pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria and since 2010 professor at the chair for New Testament at the Augustana University in Neuendettelsau .

From 1992 to 2004, Strecker was Wolfgang Stegemann's assistant for the New Testament, also at the Augustana University, which he succeeded in 2010. From 2004 to 2010 he held substitute professorships (2005–2006 and 2008/9: Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , 2006/7: Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München , 2007: Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz , 2004 and 2009: Augustana-Hochschule Neuendettelsau).

Strecker favors an interpretation of the New Testament that also takes cultural and philosophical perspectives. In his investigations into Pauline theology, he draws on the results of more recent ritual research (in particular Victor Turner ). The New Testament exorcisms are re-examined on the basis of the findings of the cultural anthropologist Felicitas Goodman .
