Christian Strohmann

Christian Strohmann (born April 19, 1963 in Dortmund ) is a German trumpeter and music teacher.

Life

Strohmann began his musical career in 1970 in the Dortmund Aplerbeck trombone choir, initially as a wind player and later as a choir director. After graduating from high school in 1982, he did his military service as a trumpeter in Heeresmusikkorps 7 Düsseldorf. From 1981 to 1992 he was a member of the selection choir of the Trombone Works Westphalia under the direction of Karl-Heinz Saretzki . From 1984 he studied trumpet with Helmut Riester at the Musikhochschule Dortmund and went on concert tours with the university orchestra to France, America and Australia.

From 1987 to 1991 Strohmann studied conducting with Werner Seiss , in addition he took private trumpet lessons with Kurt Nagel from the Nationaltheater Mannheim , Konradin Groth from the Berlin Philharmonic and Matthias Kiefer from the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne. As the solo trumpeter of the symphony orchestra and the brass ensemble of the International Youth Festival in Bayreuth, he also made radio recordings. In 1991 he completed his studies at the State University for Music Detmold / Dortmund Department with an orchestral diploma.

During his studies, Strohmann taught trumpet and brass chamber music at the Lippstadt Music School. From 1991 to 1996 he was state trombonist in the regional church of Hanover. In 1996 he became trombone attendant of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oldenburg. As an orchestral musician he played with the Westphalian Brass Soloists as well as the Philharmonic Orchestras and opera houses of the cities of Gelsenkirchen, Dortmund and Hagen. From 1996 he took part in opera productions and symphony concerts in the symphony orchestra of the State Theater in Oldenburg and the orchestras of Bremerhaven and Osnabrück. From 2003 to 2013 he taught trumpet at the Herford University of Church Music .

Since 2009, the state trombonist Christian Strohmann has been the elected "representative of the AG of trombone officers in the Protestant trombone service" and a member of the board of the "Protestant trombone service in Germany eV"
