Konradin Groth

Konradin Groth (born April 18, 1947 in Berlin ) is a German classical trumpeter .

Training and works

He began playing the trumpet at the age of seven (lessons with Heinz Döring) and gained his first experience in the trombone choir and youth orchestras. In 1963 and 1964 he was the winner of the Jugend musiziert competition, which was held for the first time .

From 1965 to 1968 he studied at the Hochschule für Musik Berlin (since the 1950s UdK Berlin ) with Fritz Wesenigk . From 1968 to 1970 he was second trumpeter with the Berliner Philharmoniker , from 1970 to 1974 solo trumpeter at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and from 1974 to 1998 first solo trumpeter with the Berliner Philharmoniker.

In 1984 Groth took part in the world premiere of Siegfried Matthus's Concerto for Trumpet, Timpani and Orchestra . From 1987 his studies on new tongue thrusting and breathing techniques on the trumpet were published in three volumes by the Frankfurt music publisher Zimmermann.

Since 1998 Groth has held a full professorship at the Berlin University of the Arts.

As a soloist, he made six sound recordings on compact discs , including salon music with organ or piano, many more with the ensemble German Brass , which he co-founded , the Berliner Philharmoniker Brass Ensemble, the Berliner Philharmoniker Brass Quintett and the Neue Musik Berlin group . He also took part in numerous film productions with the Berliner Philharmoniker, some such as Beethoven's 5th Symphony and several European concerts, as well as several sound and film recordings under Herbert von Karajan .

In addition, Konradin Groth gives international courses and his own concerts every year. Most recently he was a member of the jury at the renowned Maurice André trumpet competition ( Concours internationaux de la Ville de Paris ) several times .

Konradin Groth is a great-grandson of the local historian Theodor Zechlin . His son is the actor Steffen Groth .
