Mendefera ( Tigrinya መንደፈራ, Arabic منديفيرا, Alternative name Adi Ugri ) is a city in Eritrea with about 30,000 inhabitants. It is located south of Asmara in the center of the country and is the capital of the Debub region . Mendefera was a center of the Aksumites . Mainly Tigrinya who belong to the Eritrean Orthodox faith live in Mendefera .
