German Brass

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

German Brass is a professional brass ensemble . The ensemble regularly goes on international concert tours (mostly under the motto “Around the world”) and has recorded numerous recordings.

history

The ensemble was founded in 1974 and appeared until 1983 under the names Deutsches Blechbläserquintett, German Brass Quintett and Quintette à Cuivres Allemand . In order to be able to arrange Bach's music for the Bach 300 production without making artistic compromises, Enrique Crespo doubled the quintet ten years after it was founded and gave it the new name German Brass. A large part of the arrangements, transcriptions of old music and new compositions for the group were made by Matthias Höfs and Enrique Crespo. Cross-genre music occupies a special place in the repertoire of the formation.

In 2011 there were differences about the trademark rights for German Brass between Enrique Crespo and the other members of the ensemble. These have since performed without the trombonist Crespo.

In 2016 the ensemble received an ECHO Klassik in the category ensemble / orchestra for the CD Bach on Brass .
