Wolfgang Bauer (* 1965 in Böblingen ) is a German solo - trumpet player in the genre of classical music and high school teachers .

Life

The son of a pediatrician studied trumpet at the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic with Konradin Groth . Further intensive studies connect him with Edward H. Tarr and Lutz Köhler .

As the winner of several international competitions - including the ARD International Music Competition in Munich and the German Music Competition - and after many years as a solo trumpeter in renowned orchestras such as the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, he is now one of the leading players Trumpeters of his generation in Europe.

Bauer traveled as a soloist , orchestral and chamber musician to North and South America , Japan , China , Korea and large parts of Europe and made guest appearances at numerous renowned music festivals such as the Kissinger Sommer and the Ludwigsburg Palace Festival .

He has participated in more than 50 CD productions, five of them as a soloist and eight as a chamber musician. His sixth solo CD was released in the spring of 2006 by MDG ( Musikproduktion Dabringhaus & Grimm ).

As a passionate chamber musician, he is co-founder of the brass ensemble hr-Brass and created his own baroque ensemble, the Wolfgang Bauer Consort , with which he also appeared at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Rheingau Music Festival . There is a live CD of the ensemble u. a. with the 2nd Brandenburg Concert by Johann Sebastian Bach , a CD for children in the Edition See-Igel series, was released in March 2005.

Wolfgang Bauer has performed as a soloist with well-known orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, the Orchester National de France , the London Philharmonic Orchestra , the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra of the SWR , the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra , the WDR Symphony Orchestra in Cologne and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra Munich, together with conductors such as Lorin Maazel , Lawrence Foster , Donald Runnicles and Eliahu Inbal . World premieres or European and German premieres by Bernhard Krol , Wolfgang Rihm , Shigeaki Saegusa , David Sawer , Rodion Schtschedrin and Frank Ticheli underline his instrumental skills.

He led the trumpet class at the Basel School of Music for two years. Since 2000 he has been a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart .
