Jens Plücker

Jens Plücker (* 1972 in Haan ) is a German horn player .

Career

Jens Plücker received his first horn lessons at the age of nine from Stefan Beyer in Essen. In 1985 he switched to Clara-Christine Hohorst (horn player with the Essen Philharmonic) and from 1987 he was a young student with Wolfgang Wilhelmi at the Essen University of Music. He began his studies in 1991 with Erich Penzel at the Cologne University of Music . In 1992 and 1993 he worked for the Remscheid Symphony Orchestra and the Saarland Radio as a temporary worker. Jens Plücker got his first permanent position in 1994 as 1st solo horn with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra . In 1996 he moved to the Hamburg State Orchestra in the same position. In 2002 he won the position of principal horn player with the Radio Symphony Orchestra of the NDR Hamburg.

In addition to temporary work with the Berlin Philharmonic , the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra Munich, the SWR Stuttgart, the Munich State Opera , the Hamburg State Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic, Jens Plücker also works as a soloist. He has performed with the NDR Symphony Orchestra , the Hamburg Philharmonic, the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra , the Philharmonia Hungarica , the Bochum Symphony Orchestra and the Bremen State Youth Orchestra. In autumn 2015 the Schleswig-Holstein State Youth Orchestra will accompany him to Richard Strauss' horn concert.

Until 1999, Plücker was a member of the Delos woodwind quintet, with whom he performed at home and abroad and made CD and radio recordings for BR, SWR, WDR and NDR. In 1993 the ensemble won first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka / Japan and in 1994 first prize at the German Music Competition. Jens Plücker has been a member of NDR Brass since it was founded in 2004, with whom he made guest appearances at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.

Jens Plücker has been on the orchestra board of the NDR Sinfonieorchester since May 2010 and has been managing director of the Academy of the NDR Sinfonieorchester eV since June 2012. He is also involved in the young north German philharmonic orchestra. In 2014 he can be heard in the song Sein from Andreas Bourani's second studio album Hey . In 2015 Jens Plücker is the patron of the instrument of the year, the horn.
