Christiana Fountoulakis

Christiana Fountoulakis (born February 22, 1977 in Karlsruhe ) is a Swiss lawyer and full professor of private and civil law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Freiburg in Üechtland . She is a member of the Research Council of the Swiss National Science Foundation for the Promotion of Scientific Research.

Life

Born in 1977 in Germany, she did her Matura at the Gymnasium Münchenstein and studied first music at the music academy and then law at the University of Basel . After graduation she was from 2004 to 2009 Max Geldner Assistant Professor of Private Law at the University of Basel, where in 2009 his habilitation .

Fountoulakis is mother of one son.

The lawyer has so far dealt with two main areas of research: on the one hand, international commercial law, and, on the other, the legal framework in connection with the dignity of the elderly. She is co-author of the Journal of International Commercial Law (IHR) and the European Journal of Law Reform (EJLR).

Awards

Fountoulakis was awarded a Sofja Kovalevskaja Prize from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 2010 for her research on international commercial law.

In addition, she was named “one of 40 top talents under 40 in science” by Capital entrepreneur magazine.
