Christiane Charlotte von Nassau-Ottweiler (born September 2, 1685 in Ottweiler ; † November 6, 1761 in Homburg before the height ) was a Countess of Nassau-Ottweiler and by marriage successively Countess of Nassau-Saarbrücken and Landgravine of Hesse-Homburg .

Life

Christiane Charlotte was a daughter of Count Friedrich Ludwig von Nassau-Ottweiler (1651–1728) from his first marriage with Countess Christiane von Ahlefeldt (1659–1695).

She married in first marriage on April 22, 1713 Saarbrücken Count Karl Ludwig of Nassau-Saarbrücken .

Her second marriage was on October 17, 1728 in Saarbrücken with Landgrave Friedrich III. from Hessen-Homburg . This marriage came about through the mediation of Landgrave Ernst Ludwig von Hessen-Darmstadt . The marriage with the wealthy heiress was supposed to consolidate the ailing financial situation of the state of Hessen-Homburg. An imperial debit commission had only found two silver spoons at court. Friedrich III. had expressed reservations about informing his bride, who demanded an appropriate Wittum , about the financial situation. Ernst Ludwig wrote Friedrich on it: "Write brother, write when you have it, there's still time."

progeny

From her first marriage, Christiane Charlotte had two sons who, however, died in infancy:

  • Friedrich Karl (1718–1719)
  • Ludwig Karl (1720–1721)
