Dance sport and figure skating

Niederer started dancing at the age of 7. At about the same time, Christina Niederer started her figure skating career at EV Mittelrheintal. At the age of 9 she started to train professionally. Her first trainers were Daniel Steinmann and Martinas Kura in dance and Claudia Aebischer in figure skating. At the age of 11, Niederer and her partner at the time, David Büchel, became Junior Swiss Champion in Latin and Ballroom Dance. In 2008 they defended their title. At the same time, Niederer also started figure skating at the Swiss Championships. After Niederer won the silver medal in the main category at the Swiss Championships with her dance partner, David Büchel, at the age of only 14, Christina Niederer ended her dance career and focused on figure skating. At the age of 15, Niederer moved to Elena Romanova and trained with Viktor Kudriavtsev each summer . At the age of 15 Niederer passed the gold test and thus qualified for the elite Swiss championships. She went through all categories and took part in all Swiss championships from 2009 to 2015. In 2014 Christina Niederer changed her environment and moved to the ice sports club Zurich-Oerlikon and Gheorghe Chiper. Due to a hip injury, Niederer decided to switch to ice dancing . With her Ukrainian ice dance partner at the time, Niederer went to Moscow in spring 2015 to train with Anna Semenovich's former ice dance partner , Denis Samokhin, and aim for an internationally successful season. During summer training in Russia, Niederer fell severely while lifting a figure and suffered a concussion. As a result, Christina Niederer ended her sporting career and began her studies at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), where she is now studying business administration.
