Marcel Niederer (born September 9, 1960 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss entrepreneur and former ice hockey player . He was best known for his sporting successes and the investment in Belinda Bencic .

Life

Career

Marcel Niederer was born as the son of the host couple Heidi Spiess and Jakob Niederer in 1960 in St. Gallen and grew up in Uzwil . From an early age he helped out in his parents' inn. At the age of eight, Marcel Niederer joined the mini-novices of the EHC Uzwil and went through the junior division until he made his debut in the first team of the EHC Uzwil in the National League B at the age of 17 . At the age of 19 he made the leap into the National League A team of Lausanne HC . Altogether Niederer played seven years in the NLA at Lausanne HC, Zürcher SC and EHC Biel (two championship titles with EHC Biel, 1981 and 1983). Marcel Niederer's career ended in 1987 at EHC Uzwil (1st league and NLB).

In parallel to his sporting career, Marcel Niederer completed a commercial apprenticeship as a trustee and then studied marketing and public administration at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland in Olten .

Entrepreneur

After training and a career in ice hockey, Marcel Niederer founded a trust / general company in St. Gallen, which offered trust services and bought up and renovated older houses on its own account. From 1991 Niederer relocated his activities to East Germany and Russia . For a few years Niederer sold bananas and mandarins in East Germany and later in Russia instant coffee ( Nescafé ) and fashion items (leather goods and clothing from Modern Creation Munich ). Marcel Niederer is still active as an entrepreneur in Moscow today . From 2003 Niederer invested in Belinda Bencic's tennis career and is its manager. In addition, Niederer has been building multi-family houses in Eastern Switzerland since 2006 .

Niederer is married and has three daughters. His youngest daughter Christina Niederer was a figure skater and dancer. The family lives in Switzerland. Marcel Niederer retained his business in Russia, now mainly in Moscow.
