Christine Child
Christine Child , after marriage to Christine Gallie , (born December 23, 1944 in Chiltern, Buckinghamshire ) is a former British judoka . She won the heavyweight title at the first European championships for women.
Athletic career
The 1.78 m tall Christine Child won at least one competition at the British Open every year from 1971 to 1975, and in 1973 she also won the German Open and the Swiss Open.
At the end of 1974, European championships for women were held in Genoa as a test. Christine Child defeated her British teammate Margaret McKenna in the heavyweight final . At the first official European Championships in Munich, Child won the final against the Italian Margherita De Cal .
Child ended her competitive sports career in 1975, and in 1977 she married Peter Gallie. Since the 1960s and until the 1980s, she was under the name Cyd Child as a stunt woman in films and television series. She worked as a stunt double for Diana Rigg and Linda Thorson in the series Mit Schirm, Charme und Melone .
