Christine Hatzky

Christine Hatzky (* 1965 ) is a German historian . Her research focus is the history of Latin America and the Caribbean .

Scientific career

Christine Hatzky began in 1990 to study Iberian and Latin American history, Romance languages ​​and Middle and Modern History at the University of Cologne and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México . In 1997 she obtained her Magister Artium in Cologne. Hatzky was funded by the Heinrich Böll Foundation from 1999 to 2002 . From 2002 to 2010 she was a research assistant at the chair for non-European history at the University of Duisburg-Essen .

She completed her doctorate on the Cuban student leader and co-founder of the Communist Party of Cuba , Julio Antonio Mella , in 2003 at the University of Hanover . In the three following years she was a post-doctoral fellow from the German Research Foundation . Again at the University of Duisburg-Essen, she completed her habilitation in 2010 on Cubans in Angola. South-South cooperation and educational transfer 1976–1991 .

In the same year Hatzky accepted a professorship for the history of Latin America and the Caribbean at the University of Hanover.

Since 2017 she has headed the research line Visiones de Paz: Transiciones entre la violencia y la paz des CALAS - Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies .
