Christine Hatzky
Christine Hatzky (* 1965 ) is a German historian . Her research focus is the history of Latin America and the Caribbean .
Scientific career
Christine Hatzky began in 1990 to study Iberian and Latin American history, Romance languages and Middle and Modern History at the University of Cologne and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México . In 1997 she obtained her Magister Artium in Cologne. Hatzky was funded by the Heinrich Böll Foundation from 1999 to 2002 . From 2002 to 2010 she was a research assistant at the chair for non-European history at the University of Duisburg-Essen .
She completed her doctorate on the Cuban student leader and co-founder of the Communist Party of Cuba , Julio Antonio Mella , in 2003 at the University of Hanover . In the three following years she was a post-doctoral fellow from the German Research Foundation . Again at the University of Duisburg-Essen, she completed her habilitation in 2010 on Cubans in Angola. South-South cooperation and educational transfer 1976–1991 .
In the same year Hatzky accepted a professorship for the history of Latin America and the Caribbean at the University of Hanover.
Since 2017 she has headed the research line Visiones de Paz: Transiciones entre la violencia y la paz des CALAS - Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies .
