Christine Koch (politician)

Christine Koch (born June 5, 1963 in Basel ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Life

Christine Koch grew up in Basel and Reinach . She graduated from the secondary school in Münchenstein in 1982 , then completed the teachers' seminar in Liestal and took her first job as a primary school teacher in Pfeffingen ; today she works in Reinach. After their marriage in 1990, she moved to Aesch with her husband Klaus Kirchmayr , who is a politician with the Greens .

In 2004, Koch was elected to the Aescher Community Commission (advisory body of the community assembly), in which she had a seat until 2014. She was president of the SP Aesch-Pfeffingen until 2018. In addition, she was a member of the board of the “IG Tempo Teufel”. Until today she is a member of VCS and VPOD . In 2007, Koch ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the district administrator of the canton of Basel-Landschaft . However, she moved up in 2010 after Urs Hintermann resigned and was then represented on the local building and planning committee. It was confirmed in the general election in 2011. In 2015 she ran again for this office and was re-elected.

In February 2016, Christine Koch ran unsuccessfully for the Aescher municipal council, but was elected to the position of the first successor. At the end of June 2016, she resigned from the district administrator, her son Jan Kirchmayr took over for her . During her time in the district administrator, Koch dealt with educational and social policy. Transport policy was also a focus. The focus was on the use of traffic calming measures and an expansion of public transport.

In June 2017, Pavel Svoboda resigned as Aescher SP councilor. Koch was able to move up for him and has been a councilor in Aesch ever since. She is in charge of the environment, energy, supply and disposal department.

In her free time Christine Koch plays volleyball with Sm'Aesch Pfeffingen and hikes in nature.
