Christo Jankow Christow

Christo Jankow Christow ( Bulgarian Христо Янков Христов ; born June 12, 1915 in Varna ; † March 20, 1990 ) was a Bulgarian physicist .

Life

Christow first studied physics and mathematics in Sofia . In 1938/39 he continued his studies at the Paris Sorbonne . From 1952 he worked as a professor at the University of Sofia . A study visit took him to the Lomonossow University in Moscow in 1956/57 . In 1968 he became deputy director at the Soviet United Institutes for Nuclear Research in Dubna . From 1972 he was director of the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences .

In his scientific work he dealt with problems of crystal physics , the axiomatization of physical theories and the application of group theory in quantum theory . Further work concerned mathematical problems.

Christow was the winner of the Dimitrov Prize .
