Christo Zokew

Christo Ivanov Zokew ( Bulgarian Христо Иванов Цокев ; born May 3, 1847 in Gabrovo , † September 28, 1883 ibid) was a Bulgarian painter.

Zokew learned icon painting on the Athos peninsula . He learned painting at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. He created many portraits influenced by the realistic style of the Peredvizhnikis . In addition, genre and landscape images come from Zokew . An art gallery is named after him in his hometown Gabrovo.
