Christof Breitsameter

Christof Breitsameter (born July 6, 1967 in Bobingen ) is a German Catholic theologian and university professor. From 2008 to 2013 he was Professor of Moral Theology at the Ruhr University in Bochum and in 2013 accepted an appointment at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . Since 2014 he has been Professor of Moral Theology at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich.

Life

As a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation , Breitsameter studied philosophy and theology in Munich ( University of Philosophy Munich and Ludwig Maximilians University Munich ) and Friborg . He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising in 1994 . In 1998 he continued his studies with Johannes Gründel in Munich and received his doctorate in 2001 with a thesis on identity and morality in modern society. Breitsameter completed his habilitation in 2006 with the text “Individualized Perfection. On the value of values ​​”. In 2008 he took over the chair for moral theology at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum until he succeeded Antonio Autiero at the Westphalian Wilhelms-Universität Münster in 2013 . As the successor to Konrad Hilpert , he took over the chair for moral theology at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 2014 . Since 2012 he has also been chairman of the Working Group of German Moral Theologians.
