Christofer Varner

Christofer Varner (born December 13, 1960 in Salt Lake City ) is a German musician and a representative of contemporary music . His fields include trombone , live electronics, didgeridoo and shells .

Life

Varner grew up in Stuttgart. He taught him on the trumpet. a. Jimmy Knepper . After studying music in Munich, he played in jazz, salsa and circus bands. In 1992 a joint project aroused his interest in new and improvised music, and this genre is still at the forefront of his work to this day. He developed his own playing techniques, not only on the trombone, but also on the didgeridoo and the shell. He has also experimented extensively with live electronics, samplers and computers. Varner, who has participated in numerous chamber music, theater and radio plays, has worked with Peter Brötzmann , Barry Guy , Jörg Widmann , George Lewis , Sam Rivers , Fredy Studer and Phil Durrant , among others . He is also a trombone teacher at the Pestalozzi-Gymnasium in Munich and leads the big band there.
