Christoph Ammann

Christoph Ammann (* 1969 ) is a Swiss politician . He is a member of the Social Democratic Party (SP).

Political career

Christoph Ammann was 1999-2006 Mayor of Meiringen . From 2006 to 2016 he was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern .

On February 28, 2016, he was elected to the government council of the canton of Bern ( executive branch ). On March 25, 2018, he was re-elected for a further legislature as part of the general renewal elections. Since July 1, 2016, he has headed the Economic, Energy and Environmental Directorate (WEU). Ammann is a member of the Steering Committee of the Conference of the Cantons (KdK) and has been a member of the Bank Council of the Swiss National Bank (SNB) elected by the Federal Council since May 24, 2019. From June 3, 2019, Ammann will be President of the Canton of Bern for one year.

Christoph Ammann worked as a high school teacher for German and Latin in Interlaken from 1993 to 2014. From 2011 to 2016 he was rector of the Interlaken grammar school.

Christoph Ammann lives in Meiringen, is married and has two children.
