Christoph Neuhaus (politician)

Christoph Neuhaus (born May 10, 1966 in Arch ) is a Swiss politician and has been a member of the government of the Canton of Bern since April 2008 . Christoph Neuhaus is a member of the Swiss People's Party (SVP).

Study and job

Neuhaus studied business administration, economics and political science, graduated with a Lic. Rer. pole. and taught as a commercial teacher at various grammar schools and high schools in the regions of Bern and Solothurn. Between 1984 and 2000 Neuhaus worked as a journalist for various daily newspapers and the weekly “Sport”; He was also the media officer at several Swiss sporting events.

In 2000/2001 Neuhaus headed the Economics and Communication Department of the Department of Economics of the Canton of Bern and was the canton's Expo representative for Expo.02 . He then worked as managing director of SVP Canton Bern until 2006, when he took over the position of head of communications for the federal government for EURO 2008 . On April 1, 2008, he took up his post as a member of the government of the Canton of Bern.

Political career

From 1985 to 1991 Neuhaus was a member of the finance and auditing committee of the municipality of Arch . From 2005 to 2008 he headed the construction department in Belp as a local councilor and was deputy for presidential affairs and planning.

After his election to the Executive Council in 2008 as the successor of the Council of States elected Werner Luginbühl Neuhaus took over the post of justice, community and church director. On June 1, 2018, he moved to the Construction and Transport Directorate (BVD).

Neuhaus is married and has one child.
