Christoph Bals

Christoph Bals (* 1960 ) is a German theologian and political director of the environmental organization Germanwatch . It regularly gives its opinion on climate and development issues.

Christoph Bals studied  theology (diploma),  economics and philosophy at the LMU Munich , in Belfast , Erfurt and Bamberg . In the late 1980s, he campaigned for the first school in Northern Ireland where Catholic and Protestant students could study. Bals worked in a journalist office in Munich together with two colleagues u. a. on environmental and climate protection issues. He joined Germanwatch in 1991, the year it was founded . In 2005 he became political director there.

Bals is a member of a number of steering and advisory bodies. These include the spokesman's council of Klima-Allianz Deutschland , the board of directors of the Future Capability Foundation , the board of the Renewables Grid Initiative (RGI), the board of the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative (MCII) and the integrity advisory board of atmosfair .
