Christoph Dammermann (born May 16, 1967 in Dortmund ) is a German ministerial official and politician ( FDP ). Since June 30, 2017, he has been State Secretary in the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitization and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . He lives with his wife and children in Werne, Westphalia.

Career

origin

Born in Dortmund, he graduated from the Dortmund City High School . He then began training as a banker. This was followed by a degree in business administration at the universities of Dortmund and Bielefeld, which he completed in 1994 with a degree in business administration.

Professional background

Dammermann had his first professional position at Dresdner Bank , initially as a trainee and in 1996 as a branch manager in Bünde. Further positions followed, including as head of the branch in Lünen and as press spokesman in the Ruhr and Westphalia region. In 2009 Dammermann became managing director of the Hamm Economic Development Corporation, a 100% subsidiary of the city ​​of Hamm . At the same time he was one of four managing directors of the MVA Hamm operator GmbH. From 1988 until today Dammermann has worked as a freelance lecturer for the Friedrich Naumann Foundation-For Freedom .

On June 30, 2017, Christoph Dammermann was appointed State Secretary by resolution of Armin Laschet's cabinet.

Political career

He came into contact with politics at a young age. Among other things, he was a founding member of the Young Liberals in Dortmund, the youth organization of the FDP. From 1991 to 1993 he was state chairman of the Junge Liberalen NRW.

He joined the FDP in 1983. Since 1990 he has been a member of the state board in North Rhine-Westphalia in various functions with several interruptions .

He was involved in local politics in Bünde from 1999 to 2000 as a council member and first deputy mayor, and from 2004 to 2009 as chairman of the FDP parliamentary group in the Werne council and as deputy parliamentary group chairman in the Westphalia-Lippe regional assembly .

Memberships

Dammermann is a member of the Alumni Association of the Dortmund City High School as well as the graduate network of the University of Bielefeld. He supports the sports clubs Borussia Dortmund and the Hammer Spielvereinigung. In addition, he is a member of the FDP apron organizations Association of Liberal Local Politicians (currently as a member of the State Executive Committee of North Rhine-Westphalia) and the Liberal Mittelstand.

Dammermann belongs to the Lions Club Hamm-Hammona.
