Christoph Gerlach (born May 7, 1967 in Hanover ) is a German Go player who was the German Go Champion in 1991, 1998 and 2009 .

He represented Germany four times at the amateur world championships (1993, 1999 and 2006 in Japan , as well as 2010 in China ), most successfully he was in 2006 with 9th place in Sasebo / Japan. In 1995 and 2001 he became vice European champion. His highest rank was the 6th Dan (6d, amateur).

Gerlach has written a leading program in Europe, MacMahon , with which tournaments can be drawn using the Mac-Mahon system . This system is a generalization of the Swiss system and is particularly suitable for Go, as the different ranks of the players are taken into account. MacMahon can be used meaningfully for numerous games that are played on a one-on-one basis, for example chess , shogi , abalone but also for sports such as table tennis . Version 3, available since September 2011, is implemented in Java .
