Christoph Heinrich Hirzel
Christoph Heinrich Hirzel (also Heinrich Hirzel; born March 22, 1828 in Zurich ; † November 15, 1908 in Leipzig ) was a book author , inventor , university professor and entrepreneur.
Life
After studying chemistry in Zurich from 1845 to 1849, he was an assistant at the chemical laboratory of the University of Leipzig , where he obtained his doctorate in 1851. phil. and completed his habilitation in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of Leipzig in 1852. As a result of his continued work there, he became an associate professor from 1865 to 1891 and in 1867 took on the Saxon citizenship.
At the same time he was co-editor of the Zeitschrift für Pharmacie between 1850 and 1860 and of the Yearbook of Inventions and Advances from 1865 to 1874 . He also wrote popular science articles for the popular family magazine Gartenlaube and the Leipziger Illustrierte Zeitung, as well as the series Books of Nature edited by Emil Adolf Roßßäßler .
His membership as a corresponding member of the Würzburg Polytechnic Association , the Natural Research Society in Leipzig , the Natural Science Association Halle and his work as secretary of the Polytechnic Society as well as his function as a member of the board of the German Pharmacists' Association are evidence of his diverse interests.
Heinrich Hirzel was married to Wella Selma Therese Helbing.
Entrepreneur
Since 1882 at the latest, as an entrepreneur, he has been selling a multi-patented oil gas system, "Smokeless burning argand burner for all types of coal gas" , with the reference in advertisements and advertisements . A supplementary patent under RPNo. 20086 to the patent RPNo. 12240 of July 4, 1880 under the classification "Gas Preparation and Enlightenment" was granted to him on May 12, 1882.
