Christoph Jens Hoffmann

Christoph Jens Hoffmann (born March 15, 1983 in Cologne ) is a German journalist, news presenter, editor and speaker.

Life

Hoffmann grew up in Cologne. After graduating from high school in 2002, he did his community service in a Cologne hospital. In 2003 he began studying theater, film and television, sociology and education at the University of Cologne . He successfully completed this in 2011.

Career

Journalistic beginnings

Hoffmann was already interested in journalism during his school days: in 1999 he founded the school newspaper. In 2001, with an interview with local politician Ralph Sterck, Hoffmann came third in the Spiegel school newspaper competition . During the summer vacation 2001 Hoffmann completed an internship at the Cologne “Express”, where he published his first articles.

After graduating from high school, Hoffmann worked for a year at the newly founded youth website of the “ Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger ” and in 2003 switched to the local editorial office as a police reporter and author. In 2006 he started a two-year traineeship, during which time the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger launched its internet television service "ksta.tv". Hoffmann developed his own weekly column in which he himself stood in front of the camera.

From 2004 to 2008 Hoffmann also worked on the editorial team of the 1Live talk show " Domian ". He took the calls and decided which stories to air.

n-tv

Hoffmann spent the last station of his traineeship at the news channel n-tv and was taken on as a freelance editor and reporter from March 2008 . In addition to n-tv, he also created articles for RTL Aktuell and the RTL Nachtjournal and also worked as a live reporter. He was one of the first reporters to report live on the collapse of the Cologne City Archives in March 2009.

After an internal casting, Hoffmann moderated the n-tv news from December 2009. In addition to the regular programs, he was used for numerous special programs.

RTL II

In August 2014 Hoffmann switched to RTL II News and has since then moderated the program on a regular basis. He is also head of the “Germany” department and creates articles for the program. RTL II has been broadcasting news from the RTL media group's studio in the capital since January 2015. RTL-II-News won the 2018 Cross-Media Prize with a live special broadcast on the 2017 Bundestag election in which Hoffmann and a large team presented the results and assessments .

Return to Cologne - n-tv and RTL Nachtjournal

In 2019 Hoffmann returned to Cologne and regularly presents the RTL Nachtjournal . He is also back as a presenter in the news at n-tv.

Hoffmann is the permanent voice of n-tv advice programs. He also speaks regularly on WDR for the show Markt .

Others

In 2008 Hoffmann was selected by Medium Magazin as one of the “Top 30 to 30” as a young journalist.

From 2012 to 2013 Hoffmann accompanied a cameraman to fire station 1 in downtown Cologne. This was originally designed as a multi-part n-tv series. Because of the demand, also from fire brigades across Germany, the report was released on DVD. Hoffmann was the author, conducted the interviews and set the report to music.

Since 2014 he has been supporting the city of Oberursel's training tour, visiting school classes and promoting vocational training and commitment.

Volunteering

Christoph Hoffmann is committed to the “Hand in Hand for Children” association, which works for children with cancer. In autumn 2013 Hoffmann spent a week with a group of small artists (“Helping Hands on Tour”) in children's hospices and cancer wards.

In Cologne he supported the “Lesewelten eV” campaign and reads to children in kindergartens and schools on a voluntary basis.
