Christoph Lemcke

Christoph Lemcke (Lemcker) (* before 1749 , † after 1750 ) was a German goldsmith .

Life

Christoph Lemcke trained as a goldsmith in the first half of the 18th century before taking the citizenship oath of the city of Hanover on July 3, 1749 . After paying the citizens' allowance , he married Sophie Nobbe.

His widow married the goldsmith Johann Christoph Schmidt on January 26th of a year to be determined.

Famous works

Objects from Lemcke's workshop may be scattered in private hands. For example, a 23.5 cm high, bulbous coffee pot with trains was offered in the art trade in Hamburg in the 1980s.

Four pieces of Lemckes came into the possession of the Ebstorf Monastery , which, according to their inscription, were donated by Martinus Reifflinck. These include - each dated 1750 - a 25 cm high goblet and a 21 cm high communion jug. The ensemble includes an oval wafer box and a 7.8 cm diameter paten .
