Christoph Pfeiffer

Christoph Pfeiffer (born February 3, 1689 in Oels , † December 23, 1758 in Stolz bei Frankenstein, Silesia) was a German Protestant theologian and hymn poet.

Life

Born the son of a draper, Pfeiffer began studying at the University of Wittenberg on October 16, 1711 . In 1717 he went to Dirsdorf near Frankenstein as an informant , in 1719 as a pastor in nearby Dittmannsdorf and in 1746 as a pastor in Stolz. During his student days in Wittenberg he had already written a collection of 91 songs about the Sunday Gospels. Another collection of 85 songs followed in 1732, with a preface by Benjamin Schmolck , to whom he felt theologically and poetically connected. In addition, he published sermons, edification pamphlets and funeral sermons, and also showed historical and genealogical interest.
