Christoph Schuck

Christoph Schuck (* 1976 in Gießen ) is a German political scientist and professor at the Technical University of Dortmund .

Life

From 1996 to 2001 Christoph Schuck studied social sciences (focus: developing countries) and geography at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen and the University of Tampere, Finland. In 2003 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the Indonesian democratization process at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen, where he subsequently worked as a research fellow of the DFG and head of several Southeast Asia projects financed by the Foreign Office . His habilitation took place in 2008 with a thesis on the delimitation of Islamism. From 2008 to 2009 he was a substitute professor at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena , in October 2009 he accepted a junior professorship and in 2013 a professorship at the Technical University of Dortmund. Schuck has carried out several guest research stays, including a. at Yale University (USA), Parahyangan University Bandung (Indonesia), University of Malaya (Malaysia) and University of Lucerne (Switzerland). From 2014 to 2016 he was Vice Dean for Research and Finance, and since 2016 he has been Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences and Theology at the Technical University of Dortmund. Under his Dean's office, TU Dortmund University awarded the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk , an honorary doctorate in political science on December 16, 2018.

Christoph Schuck is married and lives with his wife in Dortmund.
