Christoph Siebe

Christoph Siebe (born May 1, 1849 in Wallenbrück ; † April 21, 1912 ) was a German sculptor and painter from the Wiedenbrück school .

Life

Christoph Siebe was born on May 1st, 1849 in Wallenbrück, Herford district. First he attended elementary school and then joined Franz Anton Goldkuhle's workshop in Wiedenbrück . After completing his apprenticeship, Siebe moved to the Heinrich Fleige workshop in Münster . This was followed by studies at the art academy in Kassel with Professor Echtermeier and worked there at the Kassler Gemäldegalerie. Due to his talents in painting and sculpture, Siebe wasn't sure where to take his exam and decided to do sculpture. To do this, he moved to Cologne to Professor Albermann .

In 1877 Siebe returned to Wiedenbrück and went into business with Anton Mormann , which only lasted until 1882. After that, Siebe had its own workshop with up to ten employees. In addition to sacred and profane sculpture, Siebe occasionally devoted himself to painting and gave drawing lessons at the craftsmen's training school in Wiedenbrück. After his death, the workshop was continued by his son Wilhelm (1881–1951).
