Heinrich Fleige (born May 21, 1840 in Rietberg , † May 21, 1890 in Münster ) was a German sculptor . He was active in Münster and the surrounding Münsterland in the second half of the 19th century. Fleige also worked as a restorer.

Act

Fleige was the son of a blacksmith from Rietberg. Since May 5, 1862, he was enrolled in the sculpture class of the Munich Academy of Fine Arts as a student . He later ran a studio in Münster, in which mostly Baumberger sandstone was used for the production of sculptures or for stations of the cross. One of his apprentices was Anton Rüller from Ascheberg . After Fleige's death in 1890, he took over the workshop. Sculptors such as Peter Pöppelmann , Hermann Hidding (1877–1881) and subsequently Wilhelm Haverkamp (1881–1883) were trained by Fleige.

Fleige had a younger sister Maria Specht (1850–1927). He also had a daughter Theresia.
